Victoria Jacono-Gilmovich and John Martin delight in presenting varied and colourful programmes combining the traditional, the less traditional, and the downright unusual!

As the title suggests, this is a programme full of sparkle and bonhomie—a musical journey that wears a smile sometimes wistful, other times sunny, never too serious!

Victoria Jacono-Gilmovich | violin

Victoria Jacono began to play the violin when she was 6 years old. She holds an A-Mus-A and L-Mus-A on violin, an A-Mus-A and L-Mus-A on viola and also a Bachelor of Music with honours, from the Australian Institute of Music.

Victoria has enjoyed working with many orchestras; Performing as concert master for the SBS Radio and Television Orchestra, The Young Symphonists orchestra, the International Youth Orchestra in Spain 2001, ‘ARCO’, Sydney Sinfonia Orchestra and Eminence Symphony Orchestra. As a member of these orchestras, she has performed in Japan, China, Hungary, Austria, The Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and Spain.

As a soloist, Victoria has performed with the SBS Radio and Television Orchestra, the Young Symphonists orchestra, The Queensland Youth Orchestra, the PLC Chamber orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Balmain Sinfonia, Sydney Sinfonia Orchestra and the Mueller International Chamber Orchestra.

Victoria also enjoys being actively involved in Contemporary and Australian music, she works closely with many Australian composers to commission and help create new compositions, as well as regularly performing and recording new music.
Victoria proudly performs on a modern Italian violin made by Giuseppe Pellacani, and an Australian viola made by Harry Vatilioutis.

John Martin | piano

John Martin is one of Australia’s most diverse, sensitive, award-winning pianists. He plays for recitals, ensembles, classical concerts through to jazz, popular music & cabaret. John’s warm, vibrant personality & eclectic performance skills are legendary; comfortably embracing live radio broadcasts, John has become a regularly featured artist on Classic FM’s Breakfast, Drive & Thursday Live programs.

In parallel with show work of this type he maintains a very busy concert schedule, and is frequently to be seen and heard partnering many of Australia’s best known Classical singers and instrumentalists. In 2013 he performed Schubert’s ‘Schwanengesang’ for Art Song NSW with rising star tenor Robert MacFarlane, and in 2014 performed several concerts with celebrated flautist Jane Rutter, with whom he will again be collaborating in 2016.

An intricate part of John’s professional career has also seen him accompanying & mentoring literally hundreds of graduating vocalists, wind, brass & string instrumentalists through their public examination recitals & assessments.

As the recipient of two prestigious, overseas study grants awarded by The Music Board of Australia & Australia’s Opera Foundation, John studied & worked in London under the tutelage of two world-renowned pianists: Clifford Benson & Paul Hamburger, strengthening his accompanist skills with both vocal & instrumental ensembles. It was during his 7 year residency at The Waldorf Hotel in Central London, John was acclaimed ‘as one of England’s greatest cocktail pianists.’
